As you probably know by now, Old Mission Gazette is mainly a reader-supported newspaper, meaning that we earn revenue through donations from our readers (and very much appreciate it!).
However, as you also know, we do have a few spots for display advertising, giving you the opportunity to get your business in front of thousands of Old Mission Peninsula residents, visitors, and the Grand Traverse Region.
People often ask why I don’t run more ads, and it’s because I don’t like to crowd the Gazette website and email newsletter with ads. And you will never see an annoying pop-up ad or video! No one wants that, including me.
At this writing, however, I do have a few ad spots open, so if you’re interested, email me, [email protected], or text/call me, (231) 590-4715 (text preferred).

About Old Mission Gazette
Old Mission Gazette is the daily digital newspaper for the Old Mission Peninsula (OMP), an 18-mile piece of land stretching into Lake Michigan north of Traverse City, Michigan. News, photos, history, vintage OMP recipes – we publish it all.
I launched the Gazette in 2015 after decades of working as a photojournalist for many newspapers and magazines across the country, including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Ladies’ Home Journal, Family Circle, Woman’s Day, People Magazine and many others.
I grew up on a cherry farm here (my parents are Walter and Mary Johnson), and my brothers, Dean Johnson and Ward Johnson, still farm hundreds of acres of cherries, apples, and other fruit. Our farm family goes back six generations on the OMP.
Ever since I was a little red-haired girl growing up in the village of Old Mission, I wanted to start my own newspaper. In fact, after I learned how to read and write, I did just that, launching my first OMP newspaper when I was about eight years old. Most of the stories revolved around our dogs, horses, cats and assorted other animals.
In 2015, the time seemed right to pursue that dream, and here we are. Now for some numbers…
