Hello, Dear Readers! First, a big thank you to everyone who helps to support the Gazette financially, whether it’s a one-time donation or an ongoing monthly donation.
Your support gives me hope for the future of local journalism. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever.
Old Mission Gazette is Reader Supported.

And since the Gazette is my main source of income, your support also allows me to fulfill my passion, which is to bring Old Mission Peninsula news to all of you.
I published my first Old Mission “newspaper” when I was just eight years old in the 1960s. At the time, my contributors included my dog, Jennifer, my horse, Copper, and our cat, Calico. We reported on all the goings-on in the house where I grew up in the village of Old Mission. It makes me happy to know that the vision I had as a youngster continues some 56 years later.

Second, a while back, I wrote about how my “grief brain” over losing Tim forgot to renew my post office box at the Old Mission Post Office. It was particularly devastating because it happened over the holidays/end of last year, which is when a lot of donations tend to come in. Move forward, Jane. Just move forward.
But I can now report that the whole Post Office fiasco has been fixed and is behind me. I’m back to having my box at the Old Mission Post Office. So if you prefer to mail a donation, I will indeed receive it now. Make it out to “Old Mission Gazette” and mail to:

I’m so grateful to have been born and raised on the Old Mission Peninsula, and my love for this community only gets stronger every day. And that’s because of all of you.

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
