(Editor’s Note: Barb Wunsch explains why she’s endorsing Warner Queeny and Julie Alexander for Peninsula Township Board. Read on for her thoughts. -jb)
Warner Queeny Brings Fresh Perspective
I first met Warner Queeny several weeks ago at a candidate meet-and-greet. I was very impressed by his genuine desire to serve our community and his openness to learning the issues and the Township Trustee role that he aspires to fill.

I believe that Warner will bring a fresh perspective to the Peninsula Township Board, and that his thoughtful and altruistic approach will ensure that he will work to address ongoing issues in the community in a way that will protect residents from financial and policy risks.
Warner highlighted his experience with strategic planning and financial management when we met. I believe that these skill sets will serve him well as a member of the Peninsula Township Board. Please join me in supporting Warner Queeny for Peninsula Township Trustee.
Julie Alexander Will Continue Managed, Thoughtful Approach to Growth
While I rarely attend Peninsula Township Planning Commission (PC) meetings in person, I watch nearly every PC meeting on the Township’s YouTube channel.
Since Julie Alexander joined the Planning Commission, I have been impressed by her ability to learn how various laws apply to the Township, how thoughtful she is, and how to make good, legally sound decisions on behalf of the township residents.
I trust that her motives are genuine and that she has stepped into a leadership role in the township during a contentious time to serve the best interests of her community as a whole rather than any personal agenda.
My sister chaired the PC for many years, and always told me that if the Township “opens the gate” on some issues, it can be impossible to close later on.
The development patterns in our community over the course of the past four decades have been intentional, and I trust that Julie will continue the managed, thoughtful approach to growth that has made this Peninsula a place that I have been proud to call home for my entire life.
Please join me in supporting Julie Alexander for Township Trustee.

SUPPORT YOUR INDEPENDENT LOCAL NEWSPAPER: I started Old Mission Gazette in 2015 because I felt a calling to provide the Old Mission Peninsula community with local news. After decades of writing for newspapers and magazines like the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Family Circle and Ladies' Home Journal, I really just wanted to write about my own community where I grew up on a cherry farm and raised my own family. So I started my own newspaper.
Because Old Mission Gazette is a "Reader Supported Newspaper" -- meaning it exists because of your financial support -- I hope you'll consider tossing a few bucks our way if I mention your event, your business, your organization or your news item, or if you simply love reading about what's happening on the OMP. In a time when local news is becoming a thing of the past, supporting an independent community newspaper is more important now than ever. Thank you so much for your support! -Jane Boursaw, Editor/Publisher, Old Mission Gazette
