I hope everyone had an enjoyable Labor Day holiday. Did you know that the first Labor Day celebration in the U.S. was a parade on September 5, 1882, in New York City, organized by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor? Now we all know!
This was a short week, but still a very busy one at the township offices, especially in the Treasurer’s office.
WOMP vs Peninsula Township Update

The Assessor’s Office. Sally and David are continuing their annual 20 percent field assessing. (From the State of Michigan document regarding the assessing and notifications: “As a guideline, the State Tax Commission recommends that assessors inspect 20% of properties in their local unit annually. Pay in person during office hours, drop your payment into our secure drop box outside the front door of the Township office, or pay online anytime at peninsulatownship.com.
