After two years of serving the Old Mission Peninsula community, Mission Proper has officially concluded operations at Seven Hills. We will all miss founder Jennifer Kuhar and her team, but never fear! A new cafe is opening in that space.

Local entrepreneur Victoria Levinsohn will carry the torch forward under a new name and refreshed vision — Right Bower Kitchen & Coffee is set to open on Sunday, Nov. 16 with a fresh vision. The cafe will feature a full coffee bar, all-day breakfast and lunch, and an after-hours menu for those sticking around to enjoy a cocktail at Old Mission Distilling.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to cheer Victoria on from the other side of the counter,” says Jennifer. “She’s thoughtful, creative, and brings so much heart to this work. I can’t wait to sit in that space, sip a latte, and experience Right Bower as a guest.”

Victoria, who joined the Mission Proper team earlier this year, brings strong coffee experience and a modern creative vision to Right Bower.

“Jennifer and her team built something truly special,” she says. “I knew I wanted to work with them before even moving to the Peninsula, and now I’m excited to take the space further. It’s an honor to continue that legacy while introducing a new concept that reflects my own love for hospitality and meaningful experiences.”

Originally from East Lansing but having grown up visiting Old Mission and Traverse City frequently, Victoria is happy to now call the Peninsula home and dive into this new adventure.

“This feels like such an important transition — for myself and Right Bower, for Mission Proper, for the whole community,” says Victoria. “I have so much to share about it, and can’t wait to meet all of the people who will keep this place as their go-to spot, investing deeply in our shared stories over great meals and coffee!”

As for Jennifer, she’s been unplugging a bit and pondering what’s next for Mission Proper as the brand evolves. “But for now,” she says, “the spotlight belongs to Right Bower and this exciting new chapter for Seven Hills.”

Learn more at Right Bower’s website here, and check out their menu here. And be sure and follow them on Facebook and Instagram. And don’t forget – celebrate opening day on Nov. 16, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Enjoy holiday specials, meet the team and taste the first sips of coffee.

Coming up is Seven Hills’ annual holiday tree lighting, back for its third year on Saturday, Nov. 29, 4 – 7 p.m. Enjoy seasonal cocktails, delicious food from Right Bower, carols sung by OMP students, hair tinsel, face painting, firepits, and holiday vinyl spinning. Tinker Studio will also be open and filled with holiday whimsy — the perfect spot to get inspired and celebrate the season.

Meet up with friends and family for this cozy community tradition at Seven Hills.
