WOMP Update: The fifth Amicus Brief in Support of Peninsula Township’s Appeal to the US Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals was filed yesterday by the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). (Who are Michigan Townships: 1,240 local units of government that govern more than 96 percent of Michigan’s land area, in which over 58 percent of Michigan’s property values are located. Townships provide essential services to more than 51 percent of Michigan’s citizens, and deliver the best value for local services).
The first four briefs can be found under the WOMP Lawsuit Court Filings link at the bottom of the page. The MTA brief will be uploaded to the page on Monday morning. (View it here on the Gazette. -jb). The Public Hearing Notices for the 2026/2027 Budget are posted on the township homepage along with other helpful information. Recommended practices that would enhance the budgeting process are also included.
Updates from Down the Hall
The Zoning Office has launched the New Interactive Zoning Map!! Take a spin here. (Disclaimer: The lines of this map are representational of the actual Township boundary and parcel lines and are not intended to be substituted for an official survey or used to resolve boundary or area discrepancies. Consult official Peninsula Township records for precise distances, boundaries and areas.)
We are continuing to work with Grand Traverse County to get our Land Use Permit application process loaded into their EPIC-GT system. WHAT IS EPIC-GT? EPIC-GT is Grand Traverse County’s Electronic Permitting and EPIC-GT Inspections Center. Residents and builders must access this self-service portal for permitting and inspection needs. We developed the portal to streamline communications for users, make applying for permits and inspections easy, and to aid in speeding up the approvals process.

Maura. The public notice indicates the 2026-2027 budget proposal can be reviewed at the township office beginning March 5th. Will it be added to the packet before the next board meeting? I believe last year’s budget proposal was included in the packet? Please answer as I am sure many residents want to review. Thank you.
