Firefighters spent several hours working to contain and extinguish the blaze. The homeowners, Vince and Jana O’Brien, were out of state visiting family at the time. No injuries were reported among residents or first responders.
As is typical with structure fires of this magnitude, additional departments from neighboring townships were called in to assist.
In a post on its Facebook page, the department expressed gratitude to Grand Traverse 911, Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department, Traverse City Fire Department, Long Lake Fire Rescue, Elmwood Fire Department, and the Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.
