Old Mission Peninsula United Methodist Church has announced an opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant to support the Pastor with clerical and administrative work throughout the year.

Certain duties — such as checking and updating the church’s answering machine message, preparing reports, and building the weekly worship PowerPoint — may be completed remotely, with those tasks determined jointly by the Pastor and the Administrative Assistant.
The church is looking for a candidate with a warm, compassionate manner and the ability to work well with the Pastor, congregation members, church leadership, and visitors alike, greeting guests in a friendly yet professional way.
Strong organizational skills are essential, along with experience juggling varied responsibilities. Applicants should be comfortable using Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva, and should be willing to pick up new tools as the church’s needs evolve.
Familiarity with website platforms — or a willingness to learn one in order to maintain the church website — is also expected, as are strong written, verbal, and email communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects independently under deadline.
The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Pastor, with a member of the SPRC serving as a staff liaison to help support the role and address any performance concerns as they arise. While the position is designed around eight to ten hours weekly, occasional weeks may require more, with the schedule adjusted collaboratively between the Pastor and the Administrative Assistant to balance church needs with the employee’s own.
The church notes that the responsibilities outlined are not exhaustive — additional duties may be assigned as needed by the Pastor, church board, or congregation.
