Used Book Sale. This is going on right now at Peninsula Community Library (PCL). Hosted by the Friends of PCL, this annual event goes through Wednesday, August 12. All proceeds support PCL’s amazing programs and services. Stock up on books, puzzles, games, DVDs and CDs! And if you’re not a Friend of PCL yet, you can join at the sale! Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony at Pelizzari Natural Area. A celebration of the Grand Opening of the “Hope for Hemlocks Sustainable Boardwalk” at the John Spencer Trail at Pelizzari Natural Area will take place on Monday, August 10, at 6 p.m. Park in the Pelizzari trailhead parking lot off Center Road – if you need help getting to the Hemlocks, contact Township Clerk Becky Chown, (231) 223-7321.
The Township has been working on this project for the past couple of years, which will relieve the stress to the hemlocks and understory caused by heavy foot traffic, and allow visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy the hemlock forest without harming it. Wednesday Night Picnics. Old Mission Congregational Church is hosting picnics every Wednesday night, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., at the church, 18687 Mission Road. Come out and share a meal with your neighbors!
